Feature Spotlight: Milan’s Magic x JESA Creative

Honored to be featured on the JESA Creative blog as part of their Women Empowerment Series.

Recently, I had the opportunity to share my journey with JESA Creative in a feature that means so much to me. From becoming a registered nurse at 19, to writing my first children’s book, to creating Milan’s Magic out of some of the hardest moments of my life—this interview touches on it all.

It’s not just about business. It’s about healing, resilience, and turning your story into something meaningful. Thank you to JESA Creative for giving me the space to open up and reflect on how far I’ve come.

Tell us briefly about your services or what you sell:

I started Milan’s Magic at 21 years old. It’s a self-care brand that focuses on emotional wellness and taking time for yourself. I sell handmade candles, journals, stickers, coloring books, and other calming tools that help people slow down and reconnect with themselves. Everything I make is rooted in softness, creativity, and healing.

What inspired you to start your business?

Honestly, life hit me hard. I became a registered nurse at 19 and was working in psych when I went through something really traumatic—I was assaulted at work. After that, it felt like loss after loss, one thing after another. I was completely drained, physically and emotionally. But I’ve always been a creative person, so I leaned into that. I started making things that helped me feel calm, grounded, and like myself again.

Around that same time, when I first became a nurse, I also published my first children’s book, Scaredy Cat, which helps kids understand anxiety—something I’ve dealt with since I was young. That book introduced me to the idea of creating and selling my own products, and it showed me how powerful creative expression could be in the healing process. Milan’s Magic became my way of turning pain into purpose, and now it’s helping others do the same. It’s about turning struggle into softness and creating spaces where people feel safe to take care of themselves.

What problem does your business solve?

So many people are struggling silently with anxiety, burnout, and emotional overload. Milan’s Magic offers simple but meaningful tools that help people take care of themselves in small, intentional ways. Whether it’s journaling after a long day or lighting a candle during a moment of overwhelm, it’s about creating peace in everyday life and reminding people that healing doesn’t have to be complicated.

What daily habits contribute to your success?

I try to start my day with intention—even if it’s just taking a breath before the chaos begins. I work full-time as a school nurse, so my days are packed, but I make time for Milan’s Magic every day, even if it’s just a little. I stay organized, reflect often, and allow myself to rest. I’ve learned that rest is productive, and I don’t feel guilty for giving myself space to breathe anymore.

How do you stay motivated during tough times?

I remember where I started and why I started. Milan’s Magic came from one of the hardest seasons of my life, and now it’s something beautiful. Every time someone tells me that my journal helped them or that my candle brought them peace, it reminds me that this work matters. I also remind myself that healing isn’t linear, and it’s okay to feel tired—it doesn’t mean I’m not growing.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received as an entrepreneur?

“Your pain has a purpose.” That advice helped me stop hiding my story and start sharing it. I used to think I needed to have it all together to be taken seriously, but I’ve learned that vulnerability is what people connect with most. You don’t need to be perfect to make an impact—you just need to be real.

What does success mean to you?

Success, to me, means being free to be myself in everything I do. I want to express myself fully and work in a way that aligns with my values. I also believe the true meaning of “rich” is being stress-free, having a full and loving home, and being surrounded by people who truly love and support me. That’s what I’m working toward every day—with Milan’s Magic and in my personal life.
